PERCRO (Perceptual Robotics – Simultaneous Presence, Telepresence and Virtual Presence) is a fundamental research laboratory belonging to the Industrial and Information Engineering Faculty of the Scuola Superiore S.Anna, Pisa, Italy. The research activities carried out at PERCRO deals with the control component and the sense of presence of humans in Virtual Environments (VE) and in Teleoperation conditions. The main research topics of the laboratory are focused in the fields of mechanical and control design of haptic interfaces, exploration and manipulation of virtual objects, advanced real time visual rendering techniques, simulators, telepresence and interaction design.
Role in the project
PERCRO will exploit competences in sensor design for capturing, haptic interfaces for rendering, algorithms development for modeling, storing and representing skills, expertise for the integration of completed VE systems. Since 2003 the research interest of PERCRO extended to the new field of Interaction Design in the specific context of digital technologies.PERCRO acted since 1991 as the coordinator of National and International research founded projects gaining a consolidated experience in the management of research. A specific team of professionals has been set up for the management of SKILLS IP.
