Target Audience Database and SKILLS Special Interest Group (SSIG)

In order to collect and manage all the individual and organizational contacts potentially interested in and useful for the Project, a specific database called Target Audience Database (TADB) has been set up. The information stored in such database can be accessed by the SKILLS members (with different levels of detail) and can be classified according to the Project needs.

In particular, the records in the database currently belong to three different classes, characterized by specific and limited access rights to well defined Project information: TADB Contact, External User and SSIG Member.

TARGET AUDIENCE DATABASE:

  • TADB Contact: a SKILLS member or an internet anonymous user can fill in an online form to submit a TADB Contact. Separate forms have been arranged for individuals and organizations. When a form submission occurs, a permission is asked directly to the contact for registering her/his details (Privacy Policy). The Contact is actually recorded in the database only when the permission is granted

The TADB Contact has no access to the SKILLS website, but is subscribed to the SKILLS Announcements mailing list, to be informed of the public Project initiatives.

  • External User: a GA or SC member can propose a TADB Contact to become an External User. The External User has limited access to the SKILLS website, where she/he can retrieve some general SKILLS Publications, and is invited to the main SKILLS events. GA and SC members vote on such a proposition with the rules described in the enclosed document (Innovation Activities-Issue 2.ppt).

  • SSIG Member: a GA or SC member can also propose that an External User becomes a SSIG Member. The SSIG Member must be linked to one or more SKILLS work packages and their respective responsible are required to authorize the candidate External User to become a SSIG Member.

End-users and industries interested in SKILLS results and related fields are typical example of potential SSIG members. The SSIG Members can be invited to SKILLS Training and e-Training events and it may be agreed that specific WP documents are made available to such members.

Target Audience Database main benefits:

  • Active role of both the Scientific Committee and the General Assembly

    • A generic TADB contact has no access to the private section of the SKILLS web site

    • Each SC Member and GA Member are promptly informed about any proposition for becoming an EXT or SSIG Members

    • The authorization from the Responsible of the WP in which the potential SSIG Member is interested in, is strictly necessary

    • The process has a fixed duration and the authorization cannot be arbitrarily delayed

    • All the TADB records can be easily classified and managed according to any Project needs
